This isn’t a hypothetical scenario. This actually happened. A company spent months and crores building a fully automated testing pipeline. The reports looked perfect. Every test passed. Management was thrilled. They celebrated. They were ready to scale.

Then came launch day.

The app worked perfectly on new phones. But on older Android devices? Complete crash. Users couldn’t even open the app. Within hours, they started losing customers. Within days, they had lost ₹20-30 lakh in business. Fixing the mess cost another ₹5-10 lakh. Total damage? Close to ₹40 lakh. And for what? To save ₹8-12 lakh on hiring a manual tester who would have caught this issue in 10 minutes.
